A history of the PEAK International Group
From humble beginnings in a leaking shed in a small Scottish town to a global market leader with offices in over 20 countries – PEAK has come a long way. Looking back on our achievements, we can safely say that PEAK's people, passion and restlessness, coupled with a customer-first approach are the main drivers behind the company’s success.
1992-1998
Our business initially established itself as distributor of air compressors in 1992 in Linwood, just outside of Glasgow in Scotland. Fast-forward to 1997, PEAK Scientific established itself as a manufacturer of gas generators for the first time, and in 1998 the company launched the NM30LA nitrogen generator – the founding product of the business.
2004
Founder and Managing Director, Robin MacGeachy, fully acquired PEAK with the vision of becoming a global leader in the gas generator market.
2005-2009
By 2005, the business saw a steady expansion in North America, with PEAK's first company outside the UK established. In 2007, global expansion continued reaching the Indian market, where the first local Field Service Engineers started operating to ensure maximum uptime for customers. The second overseas office (India) opened in 2009 in Hyderabad.
2010
PEAK's most successful product platform to date was launched. The Genius series continues to define our fundamental technology offering of robust, self-contained and cost effective gas generator systems for laboratories.
2011-2012
The company continued to expand its global footprint with newly established teams in sales and service for local customer support. PEAK established its first office in Australia in 2011, followed by the China office in Shanghai and South American office in Sao Paolo in 2012. Dedicated product solutions for Gas Chromatography and larger scale, industrial manufacturing & processing applications (the i-Flow nitrogen generator) were launched.
2013-2014
PEAK expanded further and upgraded its facilities in UK to meet increasing sales & service demands from our now firmly established, global marketplace. By 2014, the global headcount exceeded 350 and the company's success was recognized with our fourth Queen’s Award, awarded for excellence in export and innovation - the highest official accolade in British business.
2015-2019
With 16 dedicated offices globally and trained PEAK service engineers in over 20 countries, PEAK's continued focus has been to be a leading global partner for our customers, globally and locally. In 2016, we raised the bar further by winning a 5th Queen’s Award and continued to consolidate our position as market leaders in gas generation systems, experiencing strong growth in both scientific & industrial marketplaces.
2020
PEAK signed a long-term lease with Riverside Inverclyde Property Holdings (RIPH) for a second unit at Kelburn Business Park in Port Glasgow, UK. The company had set up a research and development office at the site in 2018 and established a second manufacturing hub in a neighbouring 15,500 square foot block in 2020, which houses the development and manufacturing of the i-Flow nitrogen generator range until today.
2023
Upgraded i-Flow 7000 series were launched in 2023, delivering even greater performance than its predecessor. The brand-new i-Flow Mini product platform also launched, offering a nitrogen gas solution for smaller facilities with the same expandable design.
2024-now
In 2024, PEAK acquired Noblegen Cryogenics, extending its portfolio with liquid nitrogen generators. The same year, the Genius range became the first laboratory nitrogen generator to receive the ACT ecolabel certificate, allowing customers to access independently verified environmental impact data, covering key sustainability metrics. The new PEAK International Group branding was unveiled at Analytica Munch in 2026, empowering the unique identity of each brand and reinforcing their positioning reflecting the Group's core pillars of success: customer first, service and technology.
