Newcastle University's Medical Toxicology Centre Partners with PEAK
Background
With several laboratory grade nitrogen gas generators already installed with service support contracts in place, the Medical Toxicology Centre at Newcastle University has been a long-standing and valued customer of Peak Scientific. So, it was no surprise that when the university made the decision to refurbish the centre, aiming to transform it into a state of the art facility with new laboratories and offices, that it was Peak they approached and chose to provide the total nitrogen gas generation solution for the whole building.
Project
The eventual project was extensive and involved the installation & supply of a 300 Litre per minute nitrogen gas generator, an oil-free air compressor and the construction of a new gas ring main, around and throughout the facility building. Given the fact that the main generation equipment was required to be housed in an underground basement, project delivery was no mean feat. Peak’s team of professional engineers undertook the task with great enthusiasm, assembling the compressor system & all other components as per project specifications – getting the large nitrogen generator in place was rather challenging in itself and was required to be expertly lowered by a telescopic crane. Each step of the project had to be managed with great care & precision.
Solution
The new system is now in place and the Peak nitrogen gas generator is supplying all of the LC-MS instruments in the laboratories on the 1st floor of the building. When asked of his experience of working with Peak Gas Generation, Dr Michael Dunn, Mass Spectrometrist at the Newcastly university Medical Toxicology Centre, had the following to say:
We have worked with Peak for several years. We know how good their generators are and have always been delighted with the service & support they have provided us. When we decided to go for one large system to supply the whole building, Peak was always going to be our preferred supplier.
