Nitrogen gas is used widely within the food and beverages industry for everything from cleaning machinery to prolonging product shelf-life. If nitrogen gas is part of your production process, it’s essential that you always have a steady supply of nitrogen available when required, otherwise production could come grinding to a halt.
Many food and beverage production companies rely on the delivery of nitrogen cylinder packs, or a bulk delivery of liquid nitrogen, to meet their nitrogen requirement. But it’s simply not possible for a nitrogen gas supplier to guarantee that your nitrogen supply will always arrive as scheduled.
This is because there are simply some circumstances which are out of a nitrogen gas supplier’s control. There are a variety of reasons why your nitrogen delivery could be delayed. A few examples include delivery driver absence, delivery truck breakdown and inclement weather. Circumstances such as these could see your nitrogen delivery being delayed by a day or more.
Some delays can also be due to poor planning. It has been known for nitrogen deliveries not to arrive on time simply because a facility is one of the last in a supply run, and unfortunately the supply of nitrogen has been depleted before the facilities near the end of the run have been supplied. This can cause significant delay to expected nitrogen deliveries.
Good planning can mitigate the issues caused by a late nitrogen delivery. For example, scheduling a delivery to arrive a few days in advance of your current supply being depleted, or increasing your usual order in winter to lessen the impact of delays caused by adverse weather conditions.
However, whether you have implemented good planning practices or not, when a nitrogen gas supplier is able to deliver nitrogen to you is entirely out of your control, which can put your production schedule entirely out of your control also.
